Having discovered a stock of neo-vintage Exaequo DeMart Salvador Dali "Softwatch" watch cases, we proceeded to restoring and modifying the watches to our own taste. We replaced the quartz movement with an NOS vintage A.Schild manual-wound Swiss movement, milling the cavity in the process to accommodate the depth. The dial is made of tin and composite enamel, with our personal melting numeral design applied through pad printing.

Specifications
The melting clocks of Salvador Dali’s “Persistence of Memory”, along with many other of Dali’s symbols, were the subject of a controversial licensing deal that produced an array of products ranging from home decor to wristwatches. Notably, Exaequo produced a series of different “softwatch” or “melting watch”-style wristwatches throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, before losing their rights. Originally, they sold as souvenirs, sold through magazines and museum gift shops, often featuring construction that didn’t even lend itself to a battery change. However, with the rise in popularity of asymmetric watch designs such as Cartier’s Crash, interest has returned. Here we have a early 2000’s Salvador Dali Softwatch, produced by Exaequo for DeMart, that we have revived and modified with a new dial and movement.
Craftsmanship
All of our watches are hand-assembled in Vienna, Austria, with 95% of parts sourced from the EU and Switzerland. Our cases are professionally cast and hand-finished in France, which undergo a relentless quality and performance assessment before being allocated to a build. We manufacture all of our dials completely in-house under a single roof, and have developed our own unique processes to ensure that our dials will age gracefully through multiple generations of wear. It takes three weeks before a dial is fitted into an Ambassador watch. We can only produce each dial colour once, which is why we have pre-made a limited quantity of dial specifically for the Ambassador line. Once our dial stock runs out, we will produce a new colour-way.
Once fully assembled, each watch is put through it’s paces in vigorous testing to ensure precise timekeeping, durability, and comfort. After testing is complete, our watches go through a final basic service, are packaged, and ready to be shipped or personally delivered to our respective clients.
